Frequently Asked Questions

General

Coltivera is an idea incubator where anyone can plant an idea, investors crowdfund a proof-of-concept (POC), and AI agents build working demos. Think of it as Kickstarter meets AI development — you bring the idea, we bring it to life.

No. Submitting an idea is completely free. You describe your concept and, once it enters the marketplace, investors can decide whether to fund its development.

Crowdfunding

Coltivera uses an all-or-nothing crowdfunding model. Investors pledge funds toward an idea’s funding goal. If the goal is met before the deadline, pledges are captured and the idea moves to the building stage. If the goal is not met, all pledges are released and investors are not charged.

Your payment method is authorized at the time of your pledge, but funds are only captured once the funding goal is fully met. If the goal is not reached, the authorization is released automatically.

Idea Lifecycle

Every idea follows a clear progression:
  1. Draft — The submitter is still refining the idea.
  2. Scoped — The ideator’s scope has been approved by an admin and the funding goal is set, but the idea is not yet listed on the marketplace.
  3. Open — The idea is live on the marketplace and accepting pledges.
  4. Funded — The funding goal was met; development is about to begin.
  5. Building — AI agents are building the proof-of-concept.
  6. Demo Ready — The POC is complete and available to view.
  7. Generating Revenue — The project is live and earning revenue.

Scoped ideas are intentionally not listed on the marketplace or in trending feeds. An idea in the Scoped state has an admin-approved scope and a calculated funding goal, but the ideator has not yet opened it for backing. The idea appears on the marketplace once the ideator clicks Publish to Marketplace on its detail page, which transitions it to Open and starts the funding window.

AI agents build the working demo automatically once an idea is funded. The platform orchestrates the build process and delivers a functional proof-of-concept that investors and the ideator can review.

Revenue Sharing

Ideators receive an ongoing 10% revenue share of the project's net revenue once it starts generating income.

Revenue from a funded project is divided roughly as follows:
  • Ideator: ~10%
  • Investors: ~70–75%
  • Platform (Coltivera): ~15–20%
The exact split depends on the specific funding agreement for each project.

Investing

Browse the Marketplace, find an idea you believe in, and click Back This Idea on its detail page. You’ll enter a pledge amount and provide payment details through our secure Stripe checkout.

If an idea does not reach its funding goal by the deadline, your pledge is automatically released and you are not charged. Once funds are captured after a successful funding round, standard refund policies apply.
